For the purposes of promoting Three-Green Project and stepping up the development of organic food industry, Ministry of Commerce and other 10 related departments put forward jointly Some Ideas of Promoting the Development of Organic Food Industry.
Organic food in China now only takes less than 0.1 per cent of the food market, far below world average level of 2%. So it will take 5-10 years to increase the output of organic food by 5-10 times and prioritize the development of organic vegetables, grain, domestic animals and fowls, etc. At the same time, more funds will be invested in organic food . Special agriculture funds may tilt in favour of organic food industry.
All areas should, according to the investigation on ecological environment and soil, select the areas where ecological environment meets the requirements of standard and suitable for the development of organic food, and transform the areas into organic food bases gradually.
11 departments call on all provinces, autonomous region and municipality directly under the Central Government to perform Regulations of Certification and Accreditation of People’s Republic of China for the purposes of assuring certification quality of organic food and following international market.
All provinces, autonomous region and municipality directly under the Central Government should establish service system of techniques and information of organic food. All administrations concerned should deal with fake and inferior organic food and make it public to assure the healthy development of organic food.
All parties should give full cooperation in the development of organic food. All producers and enterprises of business and trade may attend international fair of organic food to exchange information between the enterprises internal and external in production, process and trade, develop bilateral and multilateral cooperation, import projects, techniques and funds, develop not only domestic market but also in international market of organic food.  |
